the box

i don't know if "out of the box" is necessarily a good phrase. most people think of it as someone who thinks of nifty things that contribute somehow to their organization or brainstorm. but when it's a way of life, living outside of the "box", questions arise.

have you grown up?
have you thought of how your five children fit into that plan?
and how do you expect to make that happen?
is that a cult?
what if it doesn't work out?
are you spilling too much of who you are?
how does your mom feel about that one?
is it safe there?
where is that at?

you fill in the blank. it isn't difficult.

sometimes we wish we could grow up and simply be normal. be satisfied. be content. not daydream about an rv trip across america. checking out oregon.. why? dunn know. planting a church. running an orphanage. or maxing out every credit card application we receive to distribute it in Africa. come on.. that's a good one, isn't it? how long would it take to find us tucked away in some hut. it's like our own version of robin hood. too bad the problem itself isn't the least bit amusing.

so what do you do when you put two people together who enjoy dumping apple sauce on each other. whose dreams are so often themselves, and they spend hours sorting out the which dreams are in the plan of their God.

see we have very light understanding so often. seems when we have it all figured out, it is all of us. and "us" isn't the plan we're after. but there is one thing we are so very confident in, that is the light of men.

only His light is worthy to follow.

I LOVE that God made you both "abnormal" and dreamers...and I can't wait to see where you end up...I'm thinking it will involve a hut...for sure :)

There has to be a story behind the applesauce...

This post is so you. I love it.
I can see you in Africa someday introducing the children to a new form of fun....sucking applesauce up through a staw and spitting it across the field to see who can chuck it the farthest.

It's a fantastic dream.

I loved this post! I feel like those longings in your heart, if they are from God then there will be no stopping you two!!

I can't help but think of what Gamaliel said in Acts 5 when the pharisees were persecuting the apostles, "...Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. 39But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God"

Maybe those verses don't apply here, but I couldn't help but think of it. I guess I feel like if your dream isn't from God, it won't work or go well with you. But if it is from God...whoa how He'll work through you :)
